Original Thinkers

Original Thinkers

Powered by A.I.

Original Thinkers are individuals who view the world from a unique perspective, diverging from conventional thought patterns and norms. They possess a creativity that allows them to imagine new concepts, challenge existing beliefs, and explore uncharted territories in their respective fields. They are visionaries who have dared to break boundaries and have left a lasting impact on their field, shaping trends and influencing future generations of creators and innovators.

Ten years ago, an ambitious communications firm was founded on the belief that every innovative idea deserves a platform. Today, October Communications announces the launch of a groundbreaking campaign that epitomises this belief, titled ‘Original Thinkers’.

“Over the years, we’ve been privileged to work with numerous outstanding minds. What connected all our clients was a single notion – the power of original thinking,” says Daniel Nelson, Founder and Director of October Communications. Reflecting on the firm’s decade-long journey since its inception in 2013, Nelson distilled this realisation into a simple phrase that captures the essence of its mission, “Supporting original thinkers to build a creative and sustainable environment.”

The idea to celebrate original thinkers was borne out of this sentiment, inspiring the campaign which seeks to highlight a group of thirty ‘Original Thinkers’ spanning the realms of design, architecture, music, technology, and fashion, each leaving an indelible mark on their respective fields.

The content underscores the distinction between originality and replication. Nelson points out that “while A.I. can generate content, it is important to consider what is original and what is a copy.” He adds, “If journalists are replaced by computers, would they know what to write? Could they enjoy a Negroni Sbagliato at Bar Basso while discussing the narrative direction of an article with an up-and-coming designer?”

October Communications’ decade-long history is steeped in the world of design and architecture, owing to Nelson’s prior role as the head of communications for furniture company Vitsœ, where he worked alongside legendary designer Dieter Rams. This early introduction set a high bar for the company, establishing a standard of excellence that has been upheld since its formation. Fast forward to 2023, and October Communications has refined its process to enable others to expand its creative businesses, furthering its commitment to fostering a sustainable and creative environment.

‘Original Thinkers’ sheds light on the symbiotic relationship between humans and A.I., emphasising the boundless potential at the intersection of human creativity and technological advancements. “From the discovery of fire to the advent of A.I., technology has propelled us forward throughout history,” Nelson remarks. “A.I., when harnessed for good, can represent a monumental stride in our evolution. The power we have today, however, lies at the juncture of humans and machines. It is the confluence of human originality and A.I.’s ability to replicate, learn and grow that creates a dynamic force, pushing the boundaries of what’s achievable. This harmonious partnership can potentially revolutionise industries, and ‘Original Thinkers’ serves as a testament to this emerging era of co-creation.”

‘Original Thinkers’ is emblematic of the technological strides made in 2023, leveraging advancements in Artificial Intelligence (A.I.). The content is powered by ChatGPT for research and creation and employs Midjourney for producing imagery. This project offers a commentary on people, processes, and the changing world, highlighting the importance of original thought in shaping the future. As Nelson explains, “Every industry is changing, and without original thoughts and ideas, A.I. cannot evolve and develop into a powerful tool.”
